“HOLD ON” by Cryme

CRYME’s debut EP, Hold On, is a bold and dynamic release that encapsulates the ethos of his newly launched label, SEVEN. Known for merging the raw energy of Berlin’s underground techno scene with the infectious warmth of house music, CRYME curates a five-track journey that is both uplifting and meticulously crafted. Featuring the original mix and four remixes from an eclectic lineup of artists, this release sets a strong precedent for SEVEN’s mission of championing fast-paced, positive dance music with a diverse, inclusive focus. The original mix of Hold On is a powerhouse opener. Anchored by a deep, driving bassline and a saturated rhythm section, it immediately pulls listeners into its hypnotic orbit. The repeating vocal line feels like a mantra, propelling the track with an irresistible urgency. It’s a track that blurs the lines between house and techno, maintaining the pulsating energy of the former while embracing the emotive undertones of the latter.

Cinthie’s remix breathes soulful house life into the original. Her signature style emerges in the form of choppy chord stabs, airy string layers, and a bouncing bass hook. This version emphasizes warmth and groove, perfect for lifting the energy of a sunrise set. Obscure Shape, on the other hand, steers Hold On into techno territory. This remix is a muscular reimagining, where robust percussion and dubbed-out keys dominate. The fragmented vocals add a haunting texture, making it a darker yet equally danceable rendition. Lydia Eisenblätter’s contribution is a gritty, rave-ready reinterpretation. Crisp breakbeats and menacing stabs give the track an edge, while the pulsating subs maintain a connection to the dancefloor. It’s an unapologetically bold take that pays homage to 90s rave culture while staying contemporary. Closing the EP, VOLPE delivers a mesmerizing dub techno journey. Ethereal echoes, a bouncy bass groove, and heavily shuffled percussion create an atmospheric finale that contrasts yet complements the high-energy tracks preceding it.

The world is overflowing with talents, making it nearly impossible to keep track of it all. At the forefront stands CRYME , blending the best of house and techno with a unique touch. CRYME isn’t just another rising star; he’s a hidden gem whose extraordinary talent demands recognition. He’s the kind of artist you rarely come across—one with effortless range, undeniable soul, and a gift for bringing authentic vibes to every track. CRYME doesn’t just contribute to the genre; he redefines it.

If you’ve been paying attention, you might have first encountered CRYME through earlier releases like CRY001, CRY002, CRY003, CRY004 and many others. If his name still doesn’t ring a bell, that’s on you. His impeccable musicianship makes every track a force to be reckoned with. And while CRYME’s signature style remains grounded and authentic, his latest EP, Hold On, launches listeners into an entirely new dimension. Stream now on repeat!
