“SOMETHING SIMPLE” by Cs Hellmann

Chris ScottCSHellmann, raised in Cincinnati as the youngest of four siblings, immersed himself in music from AC/DC, The Offspring, and Green Day through his siblings’ cassette tapes and CDs. His musical journey was shaped by icons of 90s alternative rock such as John Frusciante, Kurt Cobain, and Tom Morello. However, it was Bradley Nowell’s guitar work on Sublime’s self-titled album that deeply influenced him. Despite being naturally left-handed, CS learned to play guitar on right-handed instruments, a factor that contributed to his unique musical style. “Something Simple” is the follow-up to his previous single “In A World Gone Wrong,” both produced by Jared Corder (*repeat repeat) and recorded at Polychome Ranch near Nashville, TN.

This collaboration marks their third track together, characterized by a rich blend of analog tape, space echo, and warm tube amp textures that define its distinct sound and vibe. The song captures a sense of hopeful realism, exploring themes of aspiration and disillusionment. It transports listeners into a dreamlike realm where CS seeks refuge from life’s harsh realities. The tagline “I’ll never make it if it’s something simple” underscores his resolve not to settle for mediocrity or take the easy path in life, instead embracing challenges as sources of purpose and fulfillment.

In its musical essence, “Something Simple” envelops listeners in a comforting embrace, much like being cocooned in warmth. Cs Hellmann’s expressive vocals are both powerful and emotive, immediately setting a welcoming tone. The title itself evokes happiness, enhanced by Cs’s enthralling vocal delivery that encourages introspection and emotional connection. “Something Simple” celebrates the journey from inner challenges to newfound strengths. By the song’s end, listeners are inspired to believe in themselves, if only for a moment. Cs Hellmann emerges as a charismatic performer whose music captivates with its distinct charm and profound depth. This track underscores his evolving sound and artistic mastery, cementing his position as a standout figure in today’s music landscape. Listening to Cs Hellmann promises a voyage into the heart of a gifted musician, offering a rich tapestry of musical exploration.
